  • Windows NT/W2K/WIN9x/WINME
Just extract the ZIP file into C:\ScriptBasic or to a directory you think is appropriate and optionally alter your PATH to contain C:\ScriptBasic\bin. To install the Eszter SB Application Engine as NT Service open a command prompt, cd into the directory where the file sbhttpd.exe is and type sbhttpd -install. Optionally you may want to edit the configuration file and recompile it. For further details read the manual.

  • Linux
    dpkg --install scriba-v2.0b1-1_i386.deb
    or
    rpm -i scriba-2.0b28-1.i386.rpm

Note that with ScriptBasic v2.0.0 currently there is no available dpkg or RPM package. You can install ScriptBasic v2.0.0 from source compiling it. To do this you have to download the file scriba-v2.0b0-source.tar.gz, extract it and start the script ./setup

  • UNIX
    ./setup

The script setup is part of the source package. It examines the source package, and compiles the source files to executable. After the compilation is finished it runs a check. It may happen that some of the module files do not link on your system due to lacking libraries. This is not an error. ScriptBasic core can be used without the extension libraries.

After compilation you have to execute ./setup -–install. This will NOT install ScriptBasic, but rather ask for configuration questions and create the file install.sh. To install ScriptBasic you have to execute this file with root privileges. To get detailed help on installation fine points read the chapter Installation Instruction of the Users' Guide

Before going on subscribe the mailing list where you can ask questions directly from the developers and from other users if ever you have problems with ScriptBasic (and even if you do not).
